Do You Need New Credit Card Service "Skip-Payment"?
The competition on the credit card market is very high! Credit card companies always look for the new customers to fill out credit card application for their credit cards. In order to get more and more customers, credit card companies provide them with new and interesting services. Many credit card users often feel the temptation to use the new service, but it is very important to find out about it in details first!
Have you ever heard about the new service called "skip-payment"? Learn all about positive and negative sides of this new service and find out if it is wise to use it.
Have you ever received phone calls from Visa or MasterCard asking if you would like to skip one of your monthly payments? Or, may be you received such offers in mail?
I am sure that many of us wouldn't mind to have a small break from their financial obligations. But you have to know that in reality this service is not as great as it seems to be from the first sight!
The next time when you receive a phone call from your credit card company offering you this great service, don't forget to ask them how much this service will cost you now and in the long run.
I have to tell you that an average cost of "skip-payment" service is about $30-$35, which is the price of fee you would pay for the late payment.
Accrued interest will be added to your credit card balance as well. Even if you are a lucky owner of low rate credit card, it will take you months and months to pay off your credit balance to be increased!
Let's imagine that your credit card balance is $5000 and the interest rate on your card is 12%. Your usual monthly payment is $100, so if you would like to skip it, you will have to pay $199! If you have to pay a fee for "skip-payment", you should also add this sum to the total amount. The game is not worth the candles, is it?
But sometimes it makes sense to skip one of your monthly payments. I am talking about some emergencies: you got fired from your job or have some unexpected auto or medical expenses. If the price of this service is lower than your minimum payment, then it will be wise to use it.
This service will not lead you to bad credit and it may grant you some time to solve your financial problems. Make sure that you will be attentive and careful with your finances after using this service in order to get caught back up and to avoid spending money on huge fees!
But before making your choice, take into consideration all pros and cons of this service and before you accept this offer, think twice if you really need it!

Student Credit Cards[12:00:00 AM Friday, August 29, 2008]
Students are an attractive target group for credit card issuers. Very often you can see numbers of students gather at centralized locations (beaches, parks), so that credit card companies can arrange advertising campaigns for student credit card offers. Recent surveys showed that:
• nearly three-fourths of former college and high school students continued to hold their first credit cards for more than 10 years after graduation;
• about 63 % of senior students have minimum 1 credit card;
• 21 % hold four or more cards.
Credit Card Fees[12:00:00 AM Friday, August 15, 2008]
Credit cards are a convenience. However, very often people face too high charges for it: an interest rate and a bunch of fees can sometimes darken the benefits of a credit card and make it hard to cope with.
In many cases, when searching for a plastic, people are eager to find best credit card offers with no fees and evaluate bank products by the fees they have. Of course, most consumers would like to obtain a credit card without any fees. Is it really possible and what fees can be detected with a bank offer?
Raise Credit Score[12:00:00 AM Friday, August 08, 2008]
If you asked a question how you could possibly start building credit when you do not qualify for any credit card you apply for, a financial advisor would prompt you to become an authorized user, a person attached to a good credit customer's account. With access to a good credit account and permission to use it, a person could quickly boost their credit scores and give a start to their credit history.
However, some time ago, Fair Isaac Corp., detected numerous cases of abusing this practice and was determined to refuse consideration of authorized user records in calculating their credit scores.
The fraudulent use, know as Piggybacking, was a smartly organized business of illegally selling good credit accounts to customers with limited or damaged credit.
Your Credit Limit[12:00:00 AM Tuesday, July 29, 2008]
Lots of credit cardholders are increasingly getting another hit by major card companies, the reason being the necessity to make huge write downs to cover credit card and mortgage losses. This time, consumers are not experiencing a hike in the interest rates - that's a closed chapter already. It is the limit on their credit card that is being reduced, making the already tight credit less available.
Banks and credit companies are occupied with keeping default rates at their lowest so as to maintain their profits at a decent level. Thus, they've become choosier as to what limit amount each of their customers actually may qualify for. Keeping more money in house is now the key strategy of most major issuers. So, watch out and see how you could avoid being affected.
